Planning a family tour to St Petersburg Russia with kids? Want to explore the city and famous suburbs and to make it more colorful and less boring?
Let's start with a high-speed hydrofoil ride to the capital of fountains and the Versalles of the North - Peterhoff! This voyage has always been the favorite for kids.
The park is full of not only glamorous fountains but also has some surprise sprinkles - so called Joke fountains created by Peter the Great - that are really fun.
Ok, after this tour you need to dry your clothes - what about real Russian lunch with vodka for adults and ice-cream for kids? On the way back to the city - a short ride on local metro.. what an experience. On the way to your ship have a visit to legendary Ice-breaker Krassin.
As for the evening - after having some rest head to marvelous Nikolaevsky Palace to enjoy a Russian folk show program (not boring at all))
What could be more fun touring mysterious Peter and Paul Fortress and then suddenly witnessing a noon blank cannon-shot? (Well - this is more for boys and it is my favorite)))
And what about climbing on cannons near Artillery museum?
Then - traditional Russian lunch with hot soup (and of course dessert). Taking a look at the city of Saint Peter from water is a must thing to do - enjoy relaxing boat ride along rivers and canals and agree with those calling it the Venice of the North.
What about stopping at Russian farmer's market for fresh veggies? Or you'd rather have a Russian ice-cream stop instead? Or both? We'll try to give and show you the best!
Below is a sample two-day city tour that would be great for families traveling to St Petersburg Russia with kids. We have tried to make it both informative for adults and FUN+ENTERTAINING for young ones. Of course we can always amend this itinerary according to your wishes and requests. By the way, we use it as a familty-style two-day visa-free private St Petersburg Shore Tour and it'a great success!

Great for kids and family
The shore excursion with MaxiBaltTours was a small group, well organized, and lots of information. I went with them because we were traveling with our 7 year old son. They went out of the way - bringing him some Russian donuts mid day- and showing things that he, and all of us enjoyed. All the members of the tour enjoyed the donuts. We saw about as much as one could see in a single day in St Petersburg, and after the trip I asked my son which his favorite city and tour was -- this one. If you plan on being in St Petersburg, and have kids, or even if you don't - use this tour company. Oh, and their van had WIFI - much better than our ship
