Let's start with a high-speed hydrofoil ride to the capital of fountains and the Versalles of the North - Peterhoff! This voyage has always been the favorite for kids.
The park is full of not only glamorous fountains but also has some surprise sprinkles - so called Joke fountains created by Peter the Great - that are really fun.
Ok, after this tour you need to dry your clothes - what about real Russian lunch with vodka for adults and ice-cream for kids? On the way back to the city - a short ride on local metro.. what an experience. On the way to your ship have a visit to legendary Ice-breaker Krassin.
As for the evening - after having some rest head to marvelous Nikolaevsky Palace to enjoy a Russian folk show program (not boring at all))
What could be more fun touring mysterious Peter and Paul Fortress and then suddenly witnessing a noon blank cannon-shot? (Well - this is more for boys and it is my favorite)))
And what about climbing on cannons near Artillery museum?

Great for kids and family
The shore excursion with MaxiBaltTours was a small group, well organized, and lots of information. I went with them because we were traveling with our 7 year old son. They went out of the way - bringing him some Russian donuts mid day- and showing things that he, and all of us enjoyed. All the members of the tour enjoyed the donuts. We saw about as much as one could see in a single day in St Petersburg, and after the trip I asked my son which his favorite city and tour was -- this one. If you plan on being in St Petersburg, and have kids, or even if you don't - use this tour company. Oh, and their van had WIFI - much better than our ship
