Pushkin and Dostoevsky TourPushkin and Dostoevsky both lived in St.Petersburg and they both contributed hugely to the creation of the unique phenomenon of St.Petersburg specific lyrical atmosphere and text.
Pushkin created here his Petersburg poem "The Bronze Horseman" and the encyclopedia of Russian 19th c. life "Eugene Onegin" and the novel "The Queen of Spades". We will see the part of the city known as the "St. Petersburg of Pushkin" - the world of harmonious, glamorous palaces and mansions along the Moika river, where Pushkin lived and worked, and the museum of Pushkin located in the house where he died after his fatal duel.
Dostoevsky came to St.Petersburg in the year of Pushkin's death (1837). The part of the city where he lived was known as "the guts" of the city at that time. The "St. Petersburg of Dostoevsky" appeared thanks to the novel "Crime and Punishment" which was written here in 1867. In this famous and "the most Petersburg" novel, he gave the detailed, even scrupulous, description of the Sennaya square district. We will follow the footsteps of the heroes of the novel, see the houses of Raskolnikov, Sonia and Aliona Ivanovna, visit the museum of Dostoevsky and the flat where he lived and died.
